How Do Plasmalogens Work?

Plasmalogens are the matrix of the cell membranes and are the essential phospholipids that play a critical structural and functional role in the brain cell. They help maintain the proper fluidity and curvature of neuronal membranes. Ethanolamine plasmalogens (Tynois Glia™) help to ensure the correct compaction, insulation, and stability of myelin membranes, while DHA plasmalogens (Tynois Neuro™) support neurotransmitter release, and modulate the activation of key receptors involved in neuronal survival and plasticity.³ They also reduce inflammatory signaling (e.g., by inhibiting NF-κB pathways), protecting oligodendrocytes and promoting remyelination.⁴

  • Brain

Plasmalogens solidify and amplify the signals between neurons to optimize physical and cognitive performance.

  • Blood

People with high blood plasmalogens were 80% less likely to experience dementia and are proven to live longer.

  • Cell Walls

Plasmalogens are the building blocks of healthy cells, including building and strengthening the myelin sheath inneuronal cells.

  • Lungs

Plasmalogens promote and stabilize nonlamellar hexagonal phase structure and have significant antioxidant effects.

  • Heart

Plasmalogens strengthen the heart muscle by reinforcing the cellular structure and function and preventing premature oxidation.

  • Hair & Nails

Plasmalogens in nail beds and hair follicles allow richer & thicker hair and healthier & faster-growing nails.

  • Aging

Antioxidant free radical that acts as the body’s first line of defense against oxidation, disease and aging.

  • Eyes

Plasmalogens are vitally important in the membranes of neuronal tissues that link the brain and the retina. The higher the plasmalogen levels, the lower the risk of glaucoma.
